About Fluidstack
Technology is the most important tool humans have found for improving the human condition, but it is not a default good. It is a lever for ideology.
Today the most powerful technology in history is being built: machines that solve problems better than humans can. The most important mission of our generation is to imbue AI with democratic values: error-correcting institutions, freedom of speech, individual liberties. AI trains and runs on massive compute clusters. Whichever ideology builds the infrastructure the fastest is the ideology that will endure. Democracy is delicate and won't survive this technology by default.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Be a barrel. Full autonomy. Own things end to end, take on scope without being asked, no permission required to operate outside your core role.
Insane urgency. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
Reason from first principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
Build something that actually matters. If you're going to spend your time, spend it on something that matters to the world.
The Data Center Design Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Lead the design, development, and execution of 10s to 100s of GWs of data centers this decade.
Drive the next generation of liquid cooling and electrical distribution systems.
Develop and scale first-of-a-kind modular data centers.
Influence behind-the-meter designs and planning for multi-GW campuses.
Role Scope
Support the structural engineering workstream across a multi-site development portfolio from site screening through design, permitting, and construction completion.
Support structural due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites: foundation conditions, existing-structure assessments, and geotechnical constraints.
Review geotechnical reports and assign structural design actions from soil bearing capacities, settlement risk, and seismic classification.
Develop and maintain structural basis of design, standard details, and specs, and coordinate with civil, geotech, and MEP teams.
Manage external structural engineers of record through design milestones, reviewing deliverables for quality through IFC.
Identify structural cost risks during site selection, including retrofit complexity on conversions.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've worked structural engineering on large-scale buildings or infrastructure, ideally owner/developer-side, and you want deep data center exposure.
You read geotechnical reports and translate soil and seismic data into structural design actions.
You coordinate with civil, geotech, and MEP and manage external engineers of record through IFC.
You know foundations, structural steel, and building envelope systems for large-format buildings.
You spot structural cost and constructability risk early, not after the site is locked.
Bonus: PE license or active pursuit. Data center, industrial, or mission-critical structures. ETABS, RISA, or RAM. Seismic design. Conversion and retrofit experience.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
